Commercial auto insurance
Commercial auto covers liability and physical damage for vehicles your business owns, leases, or uses. A personal auto policy may exclude or limit vehicles used mainly for business, titled to a company, or carrying tools, materials, or paying cargo, which is why vehicle use is one of the most common items to review.

- Hired and non-owned auto liability, when added, for rented vehicles and employees' own cars
Commonly excluded or limited
- Tools and equipment carried in the vehicle (usually inland marine)
- Cargo owned by others (usually motor truck cargo)
- Drivers who are excluded by name on the policy
- Vehicles not listed on the schedule, unless the policy covers any auto
- Mechanical breakdown and wear

- Every vehicle and trailer on the schedule, with vehicles you sold removed
- The liability limit compared with what customers and contracts require
- Which symbols apply (for example, scheduled autos only or any auto)
- Hired and non-owned auto coverage if employees drive their own vehicles
- Listed drivers, and anyone excluded
- Deductibles and whether older vehicles still need physical damage coverage
